A few weeks ago now I had the pleasure of working with good friend, best selling author and renowned philosopher Tim Freke.
We were working on some shots to promote his new book The Mystery Experience and this is one of the highlights.

Check out Tim’s site www.themysteryexperience.com and open your mind
You may have noticed from some of my earlier work that I visit Dubai quite a lot. Well, I’ve spent
around six weeks there this year already as I’m working on a major exhibition and print release
(as well as a stack of other projects).
Dubai is such an inspiring city for me and my work and although I can’t show you everything (as I have to save
some surprises for the exhibition) here’s some tasty treats to show you what I’ve been up to.

Come over to the Facebook page where you can see more visual treats from my trips.
I may have been a little behind in updating the blog but I’ve been making up for it by creating lots of new work.
There’s been private, corporate and commercial commissions plus heaps of new personal projects
that I’ve been working on.
The best place for updates is always my facebook page www.facebook.com/solalightbombing so head over, press
that all important ‘Like’ button (!) and check out the new work

This little beauty above is from a series shot at Stonehenge, and of course the full set can be seen on my Facebook page.

OK, so it’s not all about rainbows! …but with this rubbish ’summer’ I guess we need all the colour we can get!
Enjoy.
So after much planning my new outlet for Light Graffiti is well and truly open for business…
The Light Lab is a Light Graffiti Portrait studio that will make your event or brand activity
really stand out.

We’ve had some awesome events so far and the buzz of making the work and also
seeing the responses is just fantastic.

Take a peep at the dedicated site at www.lightlabevents.com to see more great images and learn more
about how we can help you to create an event your guests will never forget.

A big thanks to the team at Photographer Magazine in Russia for an awesome feature on my work.
Sure, I can’t read a word of it but I’m assured it’s all good!!

As part of the regeneration of the Birmingham New Street Station, one of the busiest transport links in Europe,
I was commissioned to create a public art piece for display at the site in the centre of Birmingham.

Along with big names like Remi Rough, Juice 126, Julian Kimmings and Zoot we created these monster
pieces – that have to be seen to be believed .

My shot was taken at the old Kurzon Street station (itself a proposed site for the new high speed rail network)
and the main light form is designed to emote the classical form of the plumes of smoke from steam engine whilst
also ‘reflecting’ the sculptural, flowing form of the new glass and mirror exterior of the station.
The works are on display on Hill Street, Birmingham for around the next 12 months – so next time you’re passing
go and check them out.
You can see more images and behind the scenes shots of the boys painting their works on my FB page

You may or may not have heard about an artist by the name of Ai Wei Wei from China …
The man is ‘missing’ after an arrest by the Police in China … it’s a long story and I urge you to read more on this but in short, he has been
arrested for speaking his mind and exercising freedom of speech.
Regardless of the details / political beliefs this is wrong. Utterly wrong. Read more on the FB group:
https://www.facebook.com/whereisweiwei
…and if you feel inspired, please make a piece of work too and help raise awareness of this terrible breach of human rights.
Thanks
Sola

It’s been a while since I last updated but I have been busy, honest!
I’ve been working on a few projects and collections and wanted to share this one with you all…
I’m taking my light sculptures on holiday to the country for a while.
Country lines is a slightly new direction for me, in that you wont be seeing any city streets or buildings.
Take a look at some of the other images from the series on my Facebook page

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The long awaited short film by Sola is now here!
Created for the Changing Faces, Changing Places exhibition.
The city is a vibrant riot of sound and activity, take another look at these spaces we know so well and re-evaluate in silence.
As the sun goes down on yet another day in the city, the busy spaces slowly clear and the Soul of the City begins to wake once again.
Sleeping spaces are replenished and recharged by standing stones of light.
As always, there’s no photoshop, no manipulation just one man, one camera and a light!
Take a look:

A big thanks to Alex over at Ape on the Moon for a great interview that hit
his blog this week.
In the interview I cover most stuff from how I started making my work through to the
question I get asked most…. How do you do it!
Check it out here apeonthemoon.com and don’t forget to have a nose around the rest
of the site as there’s some great articles on there.
Enjoy.
